Service Description

As spiritually minded parents and caregivers, we look for ways to integrate our spiritual knowledge and journeys with our families and the relationships with the young minds we spend time with. This course offers a 4 week wisdom journey on sacred symbols and archetypes as they appear in children's media. This course is ideal for parents and caregivers who are looking for a way to honor family time while simultaneously learning sacred knowledge, as well as all those who are looking to be able to open a spiritually minded dialogue with children of all ages. By undertaking study of a symbol and / or archetype per week, students will be able to have a deeper understanding of the symbol and / or archetype, and witness its portrayal and significance in the context of a specific piece of children's media. Parents and caregivers of children of all ages will be able to choose from a list of media that portrays the symbol or archetype from that week's class. The media list will include a variety of productions to be inclusive for a wide age range. Families and loved ones can read or watch the stories together (movie night!) and can have an open dialogue about how they see the symbol or archetype played out in the story. Example: The symbol of the spiral in Moana. The archetype of the Warrior in Moana. This class will offer the opportunities for: >Integrating spirituality and spiritual knowledge with kids >Conversation starters for families looking to learn about symbolism >Ways to view stories and mainstream children's media through a spiritual lens Included in the class fee is a workbook with: >Note-taking worksheets for ease of knowledge transfer in class >Handouts that include major symbol / archetype highlights >Guiding questions to consider when viewing / reading the media >Dialogue or Journal prompts to use as a family and individually Designed to accommodate the busy schedule of parents and caregivers, the class will meet biweekly for an hour on Saturday mornings, leaving time in between for the "assignments". The fourth class will be a Q+A sharing space for students to ask deeper questions, share their experiences, and help integrate what they have learned into everyday life. Students will come away with the ability to view children's media with spiritual discernment and be able to begin recognizing spiritual themes, sacred symbols, and archetypal energies that are present in mainstream children's media.
